How to Maximize Your Computer System’s Performance

A simple guide to maximize your PC performance. Software

A PC system’s performance gradually slows down over time, same with any other technology out there. This is simply because of your software, files and the temperature in which your PCs runs at (i.e. the cooler the better). These are some of the factors that can and will slow your system down if not maintained properly.

Your system’s hardware are the ones that determine how fast your system can process things, but maximizing it is a different thing.

how to maximise your speed

One option you have is the infamous overclocking. However this method is not for the inexperienced. Overclocking will speed up your system significantly if done the right way, however there might be a slight chance that you will permanently damage your system; which means your warranty would forfeit by doing so. If you don’t want to risk it, then you can take note of these other ways in this article.

Maximizing Your System’s Performance The Safe Way

Taking care of you PC system does not require yourself to be some technical savvy or a degree holder of computer maintenance. By using the following steps that ideally just cleans and maintain your system and its software, it can be easily done yourself:

Defragment – Defragging your PC or your hard drive basically means arranging your files in a way so that your system can read it in a most convenient manner. Windows already has one installed on your system so that won’t be much problem. This should give you an idea what the Windows programme would look like:

disk defrag

Format – (Re)Format is somewhat a critical (but a last resort unless you are sure) method as it requires you to clean up your hard drive completely. Nowadays the hard drives are partitioned, therefore you could easily just reformat the necessary part; which usually means reinstalling your OS (operating system) and have all your data wiped. This is one of the best ways to clean up your registry that slows down the process of your system. It may only take a little time off your CPU at first but as soon as new apps or software are installed. Although there are software out there that would do this cleaning of registry for you, but be careful as some might contain malware.

format and reinstall windows

Unnecessary File Running – There are many software on your computer that has been installed runs automatically on the background as soon as you turned on your PC. In Windows, you can simply type msconfig on your startup menu search box and a window will appear for your startup setup. You can then disable those unnecessary files that run at the start of your system under startup. Checking your task manager is also another way but usually you’ll need to figure out what processes are those you really don’t need.

msconfig

Cooling – The temperature in your PC run is a vital on how smoothly it can run. Some may not need it but some usually do. FOr example, when you live in a climate that’s usually hot, the system will automatically adjust its speed to avoid a certain temperature. This is to avoid your hardware to malfunction or get burnt literally. You can always install a new fan on your casing and help with the circulation of cool air within your system. Or if you are a very experienced computer system builder, water cooling is also an option.

Overall..

What has been mentioned above are a few steps that you can take yourself to keep your system running smoothly so the speed of which your computer is running is optimised and maximised. If you have a decent amount of knowledge of your own PC system along with other side knowledge about certain hardware and software components, there is no reason why you couldn’t take any of the above steps. There are other ways that you could take, not just these steps!

Overall if nothing works that you have tried, then I suppose it is time for you to get new a upgrade of your PC system or get someone professional to help you out!
