An Even Chillier Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X OC Graphics Card

The Radeon R9 290 and 290X were announced by AMD Ati on September 25 2013 and were later made available on the 3rd October 2013. Since then the gaming community has had a chance to play with this bad boy graphics card and the reception has been great.

Sapphire have just announced the High-end Overclocked Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X OC Graphics Card, it comes with 4GB of GDDR5 Memory running at a whopping 1,400mhz (5.6GB/s Bandwidth) and an overclocked GPU that’s now running at 1,030MHz compared to the stock speed of 947MHz, coupled with 2,560 stream processors that’s enough to make any gamer cream themselves.

Sapphire brings on the vapor

With the increased clock speeds comes the need for extreme cooling, The graphics card is using the same Tri-X fan system that we are all used to seeing, but where this little gem differs compared to the 290X is how they have included a vapor chamber.

The vapor chamber increases the heat dissipation efficiency from the 5 help pipes which in turn carry heat away from the GPU core more effectively, increasing your potential overclocks.

When will the Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X OC Graphics Card Arrive?

I am already saving the pennies for one of these graphics cards, but unfortunately there is no rock solid pricing as yet. Vapor chambers on their own are very pricey to make so I can imagine they will come with a premium price tag.
