If you don’t already know about Noctua’s NH-D15 CPU cooler then, all you need to know is it’s one heck of a cooling machine for a CPU air cooler, so, you can imagine when a press release hit our inboxes today, our interest was peaked.
Noctua’s NH-L9a will be available in two options. The first will be the regular NH-L9a which comes with regular metal heatsinks and the branded Noctua fans we have all come to love over the years. The second is the NH-L9a-AM5 chromax.black which comes with a black metal CPU heatsink and black fans too.
So, what’s this AMD ryzen low-profile cooler all about?

Coming in at a height of only 37mm (3.7cm), the NH-L9a CPU cooler looks set to be a solid choice for compact builds. In their press release today, they state;
“AMD’s just-released 65W Ryzen CPUs are ideal for building small yet highly powerful systems, and our new NH-L9a-AM5 is the perfect cooler to match”, explains Roland Mossig (CEO). “It can easily cool the new 7900, 7700 and 7600 at ultra-quiet fan speeds and offers plenty of headroom if customers want to push them beyond 65W – we’ve actually been running up to 130W on the Ryzen 7950X and 7900X!”
So it seems, while they are underquoting what these units are capable of on paper, they are not afraid to shout about the possibilities outside the specifications.
